![]() |
Alvaro Bautista expected no attack on the stage |
Less exciting was the qualifying Saturday for Alvaro Bautista at Phillip Iceland, because he could not improve his machine or his prospects for Sunday especially. He looked after qualifying in fourth place as a maximum after it in the morning in training, not much progress was recorded. "In the afternoon we did a few laps on used tires and the pace was decent. On new tires we could go a little faster, hoping that we on the last exit still make up one position, so that we are in the second row, but the rain came and I had to settle for seventh place, "said Bautista.
Stoner, Lorenzo and Pedrosa out of reach
Still, he saw the way forward as not too far, at least the. Up to fourth Casey Stoner the Spaniard saw anyway go on another planet, Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa he considered it out of reach. "Against the others but we can exist and to fight for place four or five. Start is important, then well see," said the Honda satellite rider.
The third best rider Michele Pirro had CRT, at least in the special classification better prospects than his Gresini team-mate. Before him, the two ART Aprilias of Randy de Puniet and Aleix Espargaro had been conducted in Australia are very strong move. Therefore, grid position 14 was also the best possible view of Pirro, said he was disappointed not to have come to the 1:32 he times. "We still have some movement at the rear, must get rid of the we, because I slowed down on corner exit., I am confident that the guys bring in the warm-up a few solutions and then the tires in the race play a big role. Only in the last race of the season, as the title was in the bag, rest it afforded a clear round.
"Win for both titles in one year, of course, is an absolute highlight of my career, I am sure it was Carrera Cup champion in the 2008 season and last three-time champion of the Supercup -. But grabbed the extremely difficult double to have is a damn good feeling. More can not be achieved in the Porsche brand trophy "catch cheered after the successful year.

2013 AUSTRALIAN G P REVIEW RAIKKONEN CRUISES TO EASY VICTORY
In the early morning qualifying shoot-out, Red-Bull threw down the gauntlet over their rivals by taking a stunning and utterly dominant front row lockout which sent shivers down the spine of each and everyone concerned and majority in the paddock expected the Bulls to dominate as in their crushingly dominating 2011 season.
Vettel was able to hold on to his lead after the first round of stops but was beaten by Alonso who took the gamble of pitting early for a second stop and it paid off beautifully as he came out in front of Vettel and Massa.
Alonso, like a true warrior, did everything he could by driving his red charger on the limit and sometimes over the limit but it just wasn’t enough and in the end, Raikkonen surged to take his first win of 2013 at the first race of 2013, Meanwhile, Ferrari finished a strong P2 and P4 and are certainly satisfied as they successfully knocked off their main rivals Red Bull with Alonso finishing +10 seconds ahead of Vettel with Massa close behind.
Force India had a great race as Sutil lead twice in between 58 laps of racing action but eventually had to settle for P7 due to his late switch to the option tyre and the subsequent disadvantage of excessive degradation that ruined his chances of finishing higher than the finishing position on what was a stunning debut for Force India.
Fellow rookie Jules Bianchi drove a great race for Marussia to beat his Caterham rivals; Charles Pic finished a lap further down than his fellow Frenchman. Behind them, Marussia’s Max Chilton and Caterham’s Giedo van der Garde had a mighty scrap over 17th place, the English rookie finally beating his Dutch counterpart comfortably.
But as the chequered flag came out after 58 laps of fantastic, wheel-to-wheel racing, it was Kimi Raikkonen and Lotus who came to the fore to take a near perfect victory.
For Lotus, that early advantage bodes ominously well for the remaining 18 races of hardcore F1 action.
Sykes Decides To Test The Fastest Time
![]() |
| Tom Sykes finished the first test in 2013 with fastest time |
"Fastest recovery and thats all well and good, but right now is not the goal. Our goal is to improve what we have done this year on the bike and we have done here, so Im happy overall," concluded Sykes who could at Motorland collect much data. "We have planned more tests, so we will continue to work in a good direction. It seems that Pirelli would have done with the 17-inch tires, a good job, so we definitely have a good starting point."
Leon Camier landed after his fastest time on the first day finally in third place, followed by Eugene Laverty. Michel Fabrizio rode for the first time at the Red Devils Roma Aprilia, finishing fifth against Loris Baz, who after his big crash at Magny-Cours was still not always 100 per cent fit. "We have tried many things and I like the 17-inch tires, what is most important to prepare for next year. I am really happy after the test," the Frenchman was pleased anyway.
Carlos Checa was able to improve his time in the afternoon and not landed in seventh place. The new Panigale 1199RS the Spaniard lost to the morning, however, almost the complete start-finish straight oil, which resulted in a prolonged interruption. Then the pilots fought with a strong headwind.
Davide Giugliano drove the eighth fastest time, while Aprilia test rider Alex Hofmann was with 2.9 seconds behind Sykes ninth. Josh Waters, the trial took the second Suzuki alongside Camier, lost just two tenths of a less than Hofmann.

MotoGP Pedrosa Has Only To Lose To Win
![]() |
| Dani Pedrosa was found in the wet at least a first direction |
He may have lost the battle for the World Championship in Australia for good, for Dani Pedrosa, but that is no reason for the Valencia race on Sunday to address different from those before it. "The World Cup is over, but if you drive a race, then you will go for the race. They want to win, maximum points every round and get the best. Since there is no difference," he said on Friday in Valencia.
Therefore, he also think it wrong, now try to have things that are planned for the test on Tuesday. "We lose nothing, but to win a race." He has noted, in particular, that the first tests come after the season only pure prototype parts are used, which are always only driven a few laps before the team checked for durability and safety. "Once thats done, we must go a few more rounds."
With the tests he wanted the time being anyway not employ, but manage only the task at hand, which on Friday thanks to the weather, however, was difficult because it was wet in the morning and in the afternoon then mixed conditions prevailed that Pedrosa could stay in the box. "We had our first experience in the wet with the new asphalt and it seems as if there are still a few bumps;.. Worst of it is in turn one but we have to wait for dry conditions to evaluate the grip level" Still, he thought it was important to go in the morning because it might rain on Sunday also. Second place, he had not even looked in the wet so bad.
