With a curb weight 1370-1435 kg, the 4.45 meter long SUV, according to the manufacturer is the lightest car in its class - in some cases by a wide margin. Flowing lines with a high structure are typical features of the exterior design. The silhouette emphasizes the spacious passenger compartment during various attachments emphasize the recreational nature. With brand-typical features such as the hexagonal radiator grille and headlamps, the XV is recognizable at first glance as a Subaru.

On request they can be combined with a CVT transmission. The petrol engines are designed as long-stroke engine, which has a positive effect on the torque curve in the low to mid-speed range as well as on the quality of combustion. Changes to the engine block and cylinder heads compact ensure that the overall width not yet increasing. The cylinder heads are on the inlet and outlet provided with a variable valve control, so that the gas flows can affect accuracy. Roller bearing rocker arms are only one of many steps to reduce the internal friction in the engine. A positive effect on combustion and friction has improved lubrication and cooling system. The 1.6-liter entry-level version and the 2.0-liter engine are identical except for some minor details.
The smaller unit accelerates the XV from 0 to 100 in 13.1 seconds, top speed is 179 kilometers per hour.
